hi kaps,
i could read the essence of your earlier hard-hitting blog '...whose meat?' in this dystopian story. you've created the land of no mercy quite ably. while i couln't figure out the allusions completely, i still liked the story.
quite an imagination.

...now for something that'll really get your goat.
(I recd this as an SMS joke yesterday)

Mary had a little lamb,
Her father shot it dead
Now she goes to school with it
as chunks between her bread!

Good Morning...and have a nice day....

cheers,

Keshav

Keshav,
OK, dis was the sort of feedback i was looking for, instead of just 'it was bad/ok/boring' etc. Now abt the feedback itself :

When I said you had taken on too much in a small format, I meant:

Look at the issues you have touched upon very superficially

  • IT revolution…. See what I mean?

Yes, Keshav! I touched lightly on all the issues to kind of give an idea of how the world cud be if certain types of nonsense was to flourish (and even encouraged)....it was an example of a lost world. Agreed dat too much can distract, for such a short story!

Then there are contradictions and plot holes. You call the place a “land of milk and honey”, but also refer to it as “land of zombies”. The denizens are "slant-eyed robots". Why and how were you made welcome here? If this is China, emigrating to here is out of the question.

Nah it is not China. Dis cud be any country (dat east-west concept thing), yrs into the future,  where the ppl r predominantly 'slant-eyed'. Cud be a mutant Nazi variety for the sake of the story too!   Right now, the land of milk-n-honey is well known but no one knows if it wud continue to remain dat way for yrs to come.

Calling it a revolution of minorities doesn’t work. The lower castes/classes in India are not, and never were, a minority. So, minority and majority can’t be reversed. Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, etc are minorities, religious minorities. This wasn’t specified, nor was the real cause of your flight from India explained clearly.

Keshav, i think you are really nitpicking now! I never really made it clear (nor wanted to) as to who the minorities r. Ofcourse, they r all or most of the ones u mentioned. As for the flight from India - well becos something bad (like an unpredicted invasion from B'desh (!)) happened and power got into wrong hands.....cud happen, u know? God forbid....

I’m not even looking at typos like spellings, errors in past & present tense, etc – there are plenty.
Yes, agreed. Typos (euthanasia, etc) r plenty but dunno abt grammar. Am fairly good abt dat! ;) In fact I had noticed those after i published it. But decided against editing it to correct that.....maybe i shud do so now.

I know you’ll now say that I’m making a mountain out of a molehill, but t
No, fine wid me.....i was hoping someone wud point out the spellchecks. But the rest of the storyline - it was my imagination running wild and fast......hence the haste in writing the blog!

Thanks. Yup, no offence taken. I like arguments!
